Since olden times this hot spring area has been loved and referred to by locals as yuba</ (hot spring sanatorium), and may have been discovered by the seventh-generation emperor, Kourei. The legend of Momotarou is written about the conflict between Emperor Korei’s third imperial prince Kibitsuhiko no mikoto of the ancient Yamato Administrations and Kibi country. When Kibitsuhiko no mikoto realized that Japanese oni (ogres) were healing their battle wounds in the hot springs and returning to battle he closed up the hot spring to remove their otherworldly power and was able to defeat them. It is said that from that day forth the spring went from hot to cold.

Long ago when Sanyo Rai and Hokoku Yamada visited the area, Hokoku took a hot spring bath and left a Chinese-style poem he composed about the beautiful Takesho region. This Chinese-style poem is currently on display in the parking lot for all to see.

The pH level of the spring water from this well is quite high, which gives it the notable feature of feeling thicker. The hot spring has been titled “the bath of beautiful skin” because after bathing in it skin becomes moist and smooth. It is also very popular because there is no chill felt after exiting the bath. Even the faucets and showers in the room enjoy the luxury of 100% fresh hot spring water that is drawn up from natural springs. Japanese homemade cuisine is prepared with local products and careful thought is given to seasonal flavor. This accommodation is managed proudly by three generations of a single family that will guarantee you feel as comfortable as if you were really at home.

data

Address

492-2 Takesho, Kibicyuo-cho, Kaga-gun, Okayama Pref.

Phone

0866-54-1355

Access

40 minutes by car from Sanyo Expressway, Okayama IC / 15 minutes by car from Okayama Expressway, Kayo IC

Hot spring quality

hypotonic alkaline cold mineral spring

Room rate

8,650 yen with two meals/night, lunch 1,000 yen

入浴料

leisurely soak（12：00〜17：00）
Adult 700 yen, Children 400 yen,
Reserved 1,000 yen per person

Encounter the Famous Historical Hot Springs

– Saginosu Hot Spring Yumoto-ya Ryokan

– Yunose Hot Spring

– Komori Hot Spring

A hot spring country inn with Kibi’s landscape and its spirit of harmony Saginosu Hot Spring Yumoto-ya Ryokan […]
