Appraised highly as a masterpiece of relative beauty
Kudoku-an
Kudoku-an was designed by Mirei Shigemori when he was 64 years old. It was first built as a private tea house in Okayama City in 1963 and moved to Omura-ji Temple in June 2004 after being acquired from Mr. Tatsuoka, the owner. This tea house is constructed of materials such as Japanese cedar (Kitayama sugi ) which Mirei carefully chose, and its relative beauty is immensely appreciated as his best work. If you stroll around inside Omura-ji Temple, you will see the garden he designed and a 360-year-old black pine tree.
